UEFA has announced the referees to officiate at the forthcoming UEFA European Under-21 Championship, with Turkey's Cüneyt Çakir set to take charge of the opening game between England and Finland in Halmstad on Monday evening.

Promising
The six match officials are among the most promising in Europe and boast an array of experience ranging from UEFA youth tournament finals to games in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying. Çakir, who has been in the middle for more than 100 matches in the Turkish Süper Lig, is joined in action on Monday by Tony Chapron, the French official who will take charge of the Spain-Germany game in Gothenburg.

Malmo final
Switzerland's Claudio Circhetta (Sweden v Belarus) and Pedro Proença from Portugal (Italy v Serbia) enter the fray on Tuesday, while Danish official Peter Rasmussen and Dutchman Bjorn Kuipers get their first taste of action on Matchday 2 on Thursday when they respectively oversee Germany-Finland and Spain-England. The officials gathered in Sweden will take charge of 15 matches in total, culminating in the final in Malmo on 29 June.
