Polish international midfielder Roger Guerreiro has left Legia Warszawa in his adopted homeland to join AEK Athens FC.

Title ambitions
The Brazilian-born 27-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract with AEK, said "Greece was my destiny" as he reflected on past interest from Panathinaikos FC and Olympiacos FC, the two other leading Athens clubs, and looked forward to his new challenge. "I am very eager to help the team fight for the title," he said.

Legia stay
Roger spent four years with Legia during which he made 101 league appearances and scored 19 goals. He earned Polish nationality ahead of the UEFA EURO 2008™ finals and has appeared 17 times for the country, scoring four goals. Whether or not he plays UEFA Europa League football for his new club this season will depend on AEK's ability to overturn a 2-1 deficit at home to SC Vaslui on Thursday night.
