FC Sion have secured the services of SL Benfica midfielder Beto on a two-year contract bringing an end to his seven-year stay in Portuguese football.

Limited opportunities
The 30-year-old Brazilian made just six appearances for the Lisbon club last season, playing once in the UEFA Champions League group stage in his second campaign at the Estádio da Luz. Prior to moving to Benfica, Beto played for SC Beira-Mar and FC Paços de Ferreira. Sion finished third in Switzerland and will enter the 2007/08 UEFA Cup in the first qualifying round.
