Arsenal FC lifted themselves up to second in the Premier League with a comprehensive 4-1 success at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, on a day when Burnley FC consigned Manchester City FC to a fifth consecutive draw.

Own goals
Arsène Wenger's men were entirely dominant at Molineux, although their first two efforts came courtesy of own goals, with Ronald Zubar the initial guilty party under pressure from Eduardo on 28 minutes before a lob from the Croatian striker promptly nestled in the net via the head of Jody Craddock. The third goal owed everything to the visitors' quality, on the other hand, Bacary Sagna feeding Robin van Persie and the Dutch forward setting up Cesc Fàbregas to send Arsenal in three up at the break. Andrei Arshavin then fired in from the edge of the area on 66 minutes, with Craddock hitting a late consolation, as the Gunners moved two points shy of Chelsea FC, who host champions Manchester United FC on Sunday.

McDonald strike
City dropped to sixth, in contrast, as they continue to look for their first league win since 28 September. Their troubles begin after 19 minutes as Graham Alexander struck from the spot following a Joleon Lescott handball and Steven Fletcher extended Burnley's lead just past the half-hour, before a valorous fightback by Mark Hughes's hosts. Shaun Wright-Phillips kicked things off with a deflected effort, ahead of goals from Kolo Touré on 55 minutes and Craig Bellamy three minutes later, only for Kevin McDonald to then head in three minutes from time to clinch a 3-3 stalemate.

Villa flourish
Profiting from that result, Tottenham Hostpur FC beat Sunderland AFC 2-0 as goals from Robbie Keane and Tom Huddlestone took the north London outfit up to fourth. One spot lower, Aston Villa FC gave themselves an injection of confidence with a 5-1 win over Bolton Wanderers FC, who have now conceded eleven times in their last three league outings. Lastly, bottom side Portsmouth FC were reacquainted with defeat as they lost 3-1 at Blackburn Rovers FC.
