UEFA Women's Champions League contenders FCR 2001 Duisburg and 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam played out a 2-2 draw in the Frauen-Bundesliga.

Early goal
Reigning European champions Duisburg had won all four of their league games prior to Saturday's home encounter, while German titleholders Potsdam had collected three wins and a draw. Duisburg, spurred on by a home crowd of 2,118, started the brighter and on 22 minutes Jennifer Oster's cross was turned in by Femke Maes.

Grings equaliser
However, by the break Portsdam were winning after Anja Mittag produced a 20-metre shot to equalise and Jessica Wich struck on the stroke of half-time. FCR upped the pressure in the second period, but the Potsdam defence held firm until, with seven minutes left, Inka Grings was given space to claim her ninth goal of the season, leaving her well on course to finish league top scorer for the third year running. Mittag was then denied by Duisburg goalkeeper Ursula Holl late on.

Honours even
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the recently married Duisburg coach, said: "Potsdam were the better side in the first half; we scored out of nothing. But we got into the game much more in the second half and we can live with the draw." Her opposite number Bernd Schröder added: "We had a big chance to decide the game, but Anja Mittag didn't finish and Inka Grings did. I am a bit upset, but basically I think a draw is OK for us."

Round of 16 ties
The third of Germany's European contenders, FC Bayern München, have dropped only two points and can move level with Duisburg on Sunday if they beat SC 07 Bad Neuenahr, who boast the only remaining perfect record. In the UEFA Women's Champions League Round of 16 on 4 and 11 November, Duisburg play Sweden's Linköpings FC, Potsdam face Brøndby IF and Bayern meet Montpellier Hérault SC. Meanwhile, the only club to be crowned European champions three times, 1. FFC Frankfurt, parted company with coach Günter Wegmann this week, with assistant Sven Kahlert taking over for the rest of the season and his club fifth after last Sunday's 3-2 home loss to Bayern.
