The capital of Poland, Warsaw is located in the heart of Europe - where the transport routes from west to east and from north to south of the continent cross. Situated about 370kms from the Baltic Sea, it has a population of 1.7m but sees that number swelled by tourists attracted by its history and atmosphere, where the influences of western and eastern European cultures mix. Warsaw is the political and business centre of the country and one of the biggest cities in the European Union. Legia Warszawa, the city's best known football club, are perennial title challengers in the country.
