Home to Ukrainian giants FC Dynamo Kyiv, the capital is located centrally in the north of the country on the Dnieper river. Boasting a population of 2.7m, Kyiv is not only the biggest city in Ukraine but an important educational, scientific and cultural centre. As one of the oldest cities in eastern Europe, it blends the old and the new and has much to offer the visitor. In the summer, water sports such as fishing, boating and swimming are extremely popular.
